We Will, We Will Rock You

 

I always use the square crop aspect ratio when I’m shooting with the iPhone. Having shot with various medium format cameras in the past, I just like the square aspect that they provide. Also, I post quite a bit on instagram, which favors the square format. But I think the big advantage is that as long as I’m shooting in RAW the final shot is un-cropped, which can give out surprising results. Such as the image above. I was concentrating in getting the focus on the castle without realizing that the camera also captured the two canoes passing by. This I only realized during editing. And of course I was very pleased. I could now see two paddlers moving in rhythmic synchronicity. I could hear them singing at the top of their voices the great anthem We Will Rock You by Queen. How splendid was that?
