Man as Machine

Man as mechanistic materialist.

Did man really evolve from dead matter?  If so, there should be no distinction between living and dead matter.  Is the mental process caused by the material body or is there such a thing as a soul that is separate and immaterial from the body?  Perhaps, man is just a computer - programmed to behave in certain ways.  If this were so, who programmed man?  Perhaps, another machine programmed man.  Who programed the programmer?
